Online bill payment now available
Members of Heartland REC can now view and pay their bills online through Heartland Rural Electric Cooperative’s web site, www.heartland-rec.com
Direct access to the online bill payment site is https://ebill.heartland-rec.com/css
The new service allows members to instantly pay bills utilizing most bank debit card, Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card or bank checking or savings account. There is no additional fee for paying bills online.
Heartland REC Director of Finance and Administration Angie Erickson says she expects the new option to be popular with members.
“It is a very convenient way for our members to pay their monthly electric bill,” said Erickson.
Participating members can quickly and easily look up a variety of information, including payment and billing history.
A variety of educational graphs can also be examined, including monthly usage, monthly cost, and daily average usage by month.
Activating online access will give members the ability to receive e-mail notifications of their bill every month. The e-mail will include a clickable link to their online bill, which can then be easily paid after logging on.
Members can continue to receive the e-mail and paper versions of their bill, or can opt to discontinue the paper bill.
Erickson says this is just the first step of a process to provide additional information to members.
“This will become one of our key methods of providing information to help our members manage their use of electricity,” said Erickson.
The new service is expected to be available in early January, 2011.
HREC members have other payment options they may want to consider.
Heartland’s Advantage Payment Plan eliminates all the hassle by automatically deducting the amount due from the member’s designated bank account.
Another program offered to members is the Budget Bill Plan, which levels out monthly payments.
