Replacement Bulbs and Surge Protection

A selection of hard-to-find 130 volt lightbulbs, and high-quality surge protection devices are stocked at Heartland REC’s offices in Girard, Iola and Mound City to serve our members.

These items are of particular interest to Heartland REC members due to their ability to accommodate the occasional fluctuations in voltage that can happen, especially at rural utilities like Heartland Rural Electric Cooperative.

The surge protection devices are an important line of defense, especially for today’s sensitive electronics. These are not cheap plug strips, but advanced surge suppression devices that protect electronics, televisions and telephones.

One unique item we offer is a whole-house surge suppression device that is installed at the meter. For just $4.95 per month, an entire home is protected from medium and large variances in voltage. Home appliances such as washers, dryers and refrigerators are protected from damage, and covered by a $10,000 warranty. Home electronics are not covered by this warranty due to their susceptibility to small voltage variances.

Many HREC members find that the 130 volt light bulbs last much longer than conventional light bulbs.

As technology presents us with innovative products, Heartland REC will continue to add to and improve our offerings. Some efficient Energy Star compact fluorescent lightbulbs are available now and we are always keeping an eye out for new products that might be of value to our members.
