Heartland Transfer Switch

Transfer Switch Benefits

  • Investing in a generator transfer switch is the best way to provide emergency power to your property
  • With a transfer switch, extension cords are not needed since power is provided to the existing outlets
  • A transfer switch also provides safety to your family and Heartland’s line workers by disconnecting your wiring from the power grid in the event of an outage

Meter Base Transfer Switch

  • Heartland can upgrade a member’s meter panel to a meter base transfer switch
  • This incorporates a secure plug on the side to connect a portable generator
  • The plug is weatherproof and secure, and eliminates the need for extension cords to bring power from the generator to your home
  • The cord provided by Heartland locks into place on the meter panel and plugs into your generator’s 30 or 50-amp receptacle
  • When using the generator to provide power, you utilize your home’s breaker panel to direct power where it’s needed since most generators are not able to properly power an entire home

How Do I Pay for It?

The meter base transfer switch is considered a service upgrade, with the cost paid upon installation or in installments of up to 12 months.

  • Members purchase the connecting cord at the time of the transfer switch installation
  • Like a standard meter base, the meter base transfer switch will be owned and maintained by Heartland for its life
  • One-time charge (payments up to 12 months allowed)
  • A service upgrade – the new meter base transfer switch replaces the current meter base
  • Member switches 2 breakers to route power
