The Heartland Board of Directors appointed Sue Stainbrook, a Heartland consumer-member from Fontana, as the new District 1 Director at the board's May 24 meeting.
District 1 is the northernmost portion of Heartland's service area.
Sue is the first female director in the cooperative's history. She is the wife of former District 1 Director Larry Stainbrook, who passed away unexpectedly in January, prompting a special appointment process for his successor.
Sue will take her seat on the Board at next month's meeting. She will serve until the 2022 annual meeting, in accordance with the bylaws, and may then choose to pursue re-election through the normal process.
