Heartland Rural Electric Cooperatives welcomes commercial operations both large and small on our system.
Commercial Rate Options
Small Commercial Rate
The Small Commercial Rate was designed for operations with load requirements not exceeding 30 kW, meaning they use no more than 30 kW at a given time. The rate includes three components:
- A monthly service availability charge of $39
- An energy charge of 9.3469 cents per kWh
- An on-peak demand charge of $6 per kW
For each summer month, the peak charge of $6 per kW will be calculated by examining the consumer-member’s hourly usage between 3 and 8 p.m. on Peak Days, which Heartland declares on days that we think have a chance of being the highest usage for the month for the entire KEPCo system. Whichever one-hour increment has the highest usage will be used to calculate the peak charge.
Members on the Small Commercial rate can save money on their bills by reducing their demand between 3 and 8 p.m. on Peak Days.
While peak charges are determined in June-September, there is a “ratchet” component that applies in the remaining months. Please contact our billing department for more details.
General Commercial Rate
The General Commercial Rate was designed for operations with load requirements of at least 25 kW, meaning they might use 25 kW or more at a given time. The rate includes four components:
- A monthly service availability charge of $90
- An energy charge of 5.6665 cents per kWh
- A coincident peak (CP) demand charge of $14.66 per kW used during the monthly peak demand on the entire KEPCo system
- A non-coincident peak (NCP) demand charge of $8.50 per kW used during the individual service’s monthly peak
While peak charges are determined in June-September, there is a “ratchet” component that applies in the remaining months. Please contact our billing department for more details.
